Advisory Notice Melamine Use in Wheat Gluten

In light of the recent melamine alerts in the media, Calkins & Burke would like to assure all of our customers that none of our products are affected. The advisory has identified wheat gluten and rice protein concentrates imported from 2 Chinese manufacturers as the primary ingredients of concern. We have confirmed with all of our manufacturers and aquaculture facilities that they have not sourced any products containing the 2 identified ingredients from China.

Although it is believed that the risk to the human food chain is very low and not a health concern, the Canadian Government is monitoring this issue closely, in collaboration with the FDA.
