Money’s Mushrooms Customer Advisory

In light of the recent melamine alerts in food products from China, Calkins & Burke would like to assure all of our customers that our products are not affected. We have confirmed with all of our suppliers that all input ingredients and final products are melamine free.

As part of our quality commitment to Money’s Mushroom customers we have had our products analyzed with a Standards Council of Canada approved Laboratory and all results were negative for melamine.

Calkins & Burke will continue to work closely with all of our manufacturers in order to provide products that are of the highest quality and meet all Canadian Food regulations. We will stay abreast of any emerging food safety matters and take any necessary precautions / actions to ensure our products are not affected.

BPA (Bisphenol A)

Calkins & Burke takes all matters of food safety very seriously and we continue to work with government agencies, health authorities and our supplier to stay abreast of all food safety initiatives. Health Canada has recently announced changes to Canadian Standards for BPA in food. At this time action has only been taken against baby food products and do not include any standards for BPA in Canned Foods, Health Canada has advised the industry that at this time they have no intention of introducing any new regulations on the use of BPA in Canned Foods for Adults as their research does not indicate that there is any adverse effects in adults.

Currently FDA and the EU are the only countries that have standards on the migration of BPA in canned foods. Calkins & Burke have adopted these standards and would like to assure all of our customers that all products meet these standards.
